A breakfast of possibilities.
A breakfast of possibilities
In case you are wondering why that title, it's because of the name of the place - Café ETC, geddit? If you didn't, fret not! Perhaps it's just in my head.
Anyways, we did not plan on coming here, our plan was to check out another café across the street but the queue was just too long given the time constraint we had. So we decided to give that a skip and thought let's support a café that may be more in need of it. And I am glad we gave Café ETC at Jalan Tun H S Lee. a try!
What used to be an Art Gallery was then converted into a simple and spacious café that combines colonial (exterior) and industrial (interior) designs. This place has an extensive menu covering all-day breakfast options as well as plenty of main meals for you to choose from. But, we only tried one meal and two drinks, hence the very limited pictures. But don't let the lack of photos deter you from trying out this place.
For drinks, I got myself an Iced Chocolate which tasted rich, thanks to the 60% dark chocolate used and it had just the right amount of milk to chocolate ratio. I shall let you be the judge based on the pic below. My breakfast partner got himself an Iced Dirty Matcha Latte, which was a customised order and it turned out good but could have done with lesser milk.
How good does that Iced Chocolate look? And the Iced Dirty Matcha too!
For food, we ordered the popular (which we weren't aware of then), The ETC. Breakfast. Every element on the plate was good! Right from the soft and flaky croissant, to that yummy yoghurt + homemade granola wholesome goodness, to the juicy mushrooms and really soft and creamy scrambled eggs, in addition to the sausage and hash brown that comes along with it.
A satisfying breakfast to start your day
Will definitely be returning to this place to try their much raved about cheesecake and salted egg chicken and definitely going to try their wide selection of pasta dishes.
TO NOTE: For this trip, the Iced Chocolate, croissant and yoghurt + granola are the highlights! Also, apparently this cafe serves as an event space, hence it's name ETC - the possibilities of utilising the space for different purposes. Hopefully you understand the reason for the blog entry title, haha.
My overall verdict: Tash-approved! A promising but apparently underrated place that you should try when MCO has been lifted.
Rating: 8/10
Pricing: Did not take note but i do remember it being affordable. Will be sure to update after my next visit.
